Dr. Low Dog's extensive career in studying natural medicine began more than twenty-five years ago. She is an internationally known speaker on topics ranging from responsible use of herbal medicine and dietary supplements to integrative approaches to health. Tieraona ran a successful integrative medical clinic in Albuquerque, NM before moving to Tucson, AZ where she is the Director of the Fellowship at the Arizona Center of Integrative Medicine and the University of Arizona School of Medicine. In addition to her work as a clinician and educator, Dr. Low Dog has been involved in national health policy and regulatory issues  for more than a decade.  

Nutrition for the Dental Patient Understand the role of macronutrients and their role in health. Be able to counsel patients about sugar and sugar substitutes. Describe the sources of dietary mercury and how to reduce exposure. Recognize importance of calcium, viamin D and omega 3 fatty acids in oral and overall health.

Mental Health: What Dental Professionals Should Know Participants will be able to identify three stressors and our physiological response to acute and persistent stress. Discuss depression and how it is the hidden risk factor for many diseases. Identify primary categories of antidepressent medications and their side effects. Describe the prevalence of substance abuse and numerous treatment modalities for addiction.
